News in Brief

AI Market

The AI market is still moving quickly, but the focus is changing. The conversation has shifted away from prompt engineering and toward governed execution, measurable workflow gains and control. Grant Thornton found that 68% of CFOs expect IT and digital transformation spend to rise. Gartner says AI and digital talent is finance’s top near-term challenge. Wolters Kluwer says 87% of finance leaders believe expectations of the CFO are expanding as AI becomes more embedded in decision-making. [1]

Enterprise Performance Management

In EPM, the market is moving fast. BARC reports that fewer than 20% of organisations have fully integrated planning and analytics, and that data management remains a major challenge. At the same time, agentic AI is emerging as a core innovation theme, with vendors starting to embed AI-led execution into planning and performance workflows. [2]

BARC

BARC is an independent analyst firm that researches data, analytics and corporate performance management platforms, and publishes market reports and vendor evaluations for buyers. Jedox continues to perform strongly in BARC evaluations. Its strengths in flexibility, integrated planning and business-user ownership still stand out, while the platform continues to expand its AI and security capabilities. [3]

Agentic AI

The EPM market is maturing, but vendors are advancing at different speeds. Agentic AI is becoming the central innovation theme, with more attention on AI-powered planning, reporting and analysis, support for consolidation and close processes, and workflow automation across finance. [2]

March brought Oracle’s Fusion Agentic Applications, Board’s FP&A and Controller Agents, Anaplan’s CoModeler, Custom Analyst and Agent Studio, and Pigment’s Modeler Agent. [4]

Microsoft also previewed Planning in Fabric IQ, aiming to bring planning closer to Fabric semantic models. Vena acquired Acterys to deepen its Microsoft position, while Snowflake previewed Project SnowWork as an agentic workflow layer built on governed enterprise data. [5]

The Key Constraint

Leaders are investing in AI, but the conversation is shifting. The emphasis is moving from discovery to governance, capability and ROI.

The harder constraint now is talent. It’s not a lack of ideas but the people, operating discipline and data foundations required to turn prototypes into repeatable business practice. [1]
